Printing In Solidarity

ABOUT

OUR SALE HAS ENDED.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

PRINTING IN SOLIDARITY is an art print sale, online August 4 through to September 1, raising money for the Aboriginal Legal Service and Children's Ground.

Born in response to the global Black Lives Matter and the ongoing Stop Aboriginal Deaths in Custody movements, the project brings together local artists who share the goal of becoming better allies by raising money and awareness.

As the world stands in solidarity with the black community in the US, we acknowledge that this is just as much an Australian issue. For too long the Aboriginal and Torres Strait community have suffered injustice and violence inflicted by our government and police, and we who are not directly affected have not paid attention.

The disproportionate incarceration rates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians is one of our nation’s most significant human rights concerns. Rates of imprisoned Indigenous children are especially disgraceful, making up more than 50% of those in youth detention.

Launching on National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day, a SNAICC-National Voice for our Children initiative held annually since 1988, we hope to raise funds to support the work these organisations are doing to support young Indigenous Australians. It's time to speak up, using our voice and platform to encourage accountability, change the discourse and fight for the equality and sovereignty of our First Nations peoples.

Who we are supporting:

The Aboriginal Legal Service has been providing free legal assistance to Aboriginal people throughout NSW and the ACT since 1970. A proudly Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation, the ALS was founded as a response to injustices inflicted upon Indigenous communities, and in acknowledgement of the importance of Aboriginal people designing and delivering services to our own communities. Today the ALS does legal work in criminal law, children’s care and protection law and family law. They also support the development of wraparound programs and undertake broader policy and law reform work.

Children's Ground is an organisation led by First Nations communities across Australia. Children’s Ground is responding to the failings of the education system for First Nations children and leading the way in implementing First Nations-led education. Address the determinants for social, cultural and economic wellbeing, Children’s Ground is an evidenced based approach, designed with First Nations leaders to achieve radical reform.

Please take the time to look into these organisations more and further donate if you can.
